Celebration Planned for Saskatchewan’s 120th Anniversary
August 19, 2025, Saskatoon, SK: On September 1, 1905, The Saskatchewan Act became effective and established the new Province of Saskatchewan as part of the Confederation of Canada. Inauguration Day was held on September 4, 1905 to celebrate the birth of the province. Now, 120 years later, a celebration is planned to mark the special occasion: “SASK 120 – Celebrating 120 Years of Saskatchewan History, Communities and Economy” will be held on September 4, 2025 at the Remai Modern.
The event, an evening reception and dinner, will feature speakers covering the history of the province, the treaties and the economy. Most importantly, it will bring together residents from across the province to mark this special milestone in the history of Saskatchewan. The evening will end with a special toast to Saskatchewan & commemorative group photo.
Speakers at the event will include Her Honour the Honourable Bernadette McIntyre, S.O.M, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Dr. Kathy Walker, Treaty Commissioner of Saskatchewan, Dr. Bill Waiser, CM, SOM, FRSC, DLitt, Author & Historian and Peter Stoicheff, President, University of Saskatchewan.
